North Island Tours
The scenery of the North Island ranges from the idyllic tropical coast and crystal clear blue seas of the Northland Bays to the dramatic volcanic central plateau around Rotorua and Taupo, a magnet for visitors the world over. Join either one of our two North Island tours, or string them together and come along on both tours which run consecutively, twice a year.
On Tour 1, Walk the Islands, we take boats to easy walks on islands close to the coast in Auckland and in the Bay of Islands, with an optional dive to the wreck of the Rainbow Warrior.
On Tour 2, Walk the Volcanoes, we take walks on the volcanic features of the Rotorua area and the Tongariro National Park, with an optional trip to hike on New Zealand's most active volcano, White Island, out in the Bay of Plenty.
We also have a lovely Art Deco Weekender trip to Napier during the famous Art Deco weekend, when you can combine some relaxing walks through vineyards and along the Pacific coast with visits to the Art Deco events. Book early for this popular tour.
All our accommodation is at least 3-4* and we take in exciting places and cultural experiences, organised by your friendly tour leader.

According to Maori mythology, the North and South Islands of New Zealand were created by the god Maui. Whilst out fishing with his brothers from their canoe (the South Island), they caught a great fish and whilst Maui was not looking his brothers fought over and chopped up the fish.
The great fish became the North Island and its mountains and valleys are said to be the result of the brothers chopping into it. Thus a Maori name for the North Island is Te Ika-a-Maui (The Fish of Maui)
